NASA Janitor Puts Man on Moon – JFK Story – Employee Engagement
This is a great story that we often discuss on our workplace wellbeing training workshops.
It can really help to convey an important consideration for employee engagement.
JFK and the NASA Janitor in 1962
Let’s take our minds all the way back to 1962.
Seven years before the first person walked on the moon. Twenty two years before the first mobile phone was launched.
In America, President JFK was taking time to visit the NASA Space Centre.
While walking along the very long corridors, in this huge building, JFK met a janitor and asked him what he was doing today.
Now, the janitor could have said he was just earning a few dollars.
The janitor could have said he was just doing the cleaning.
But, instead, the janitor said he’s helping to put a man on the moon.
Such amazing purpose, vision and collaboration.
Such amazing employee engagement!
